DIABLO

Town People

This is a list of people that stand in the town in the game. You can talk to these people about your quests, gossip to them and trade with them. Sadly, you can't attack them, which can be annoying at times.

Griswold the Blacksmith

This Scottish accented man will probably be the main guy you talk to. He is a blacksmith, so he is your main source of getting kick ass items and selling your stuff for money. When you buy stuff from him, there is 2 sections. One is Basic Items, which is like your general Caps, Bucklers and Small Swords - good for bums or low level characters. The other one is Premium Items - the expensive stuff. The prices can range from about $1000 to the highest I've seen which is $16,500 (it could differ slightly).

He gives you the Magic Rock quest and the Anvil of Fury quest, from which you get Empyrean Band and Griswold's Edge. The Empyrean Band is a ring item that is pretty good, and Griswold's Edge is a sword that knocks target back, has fire damage and other things. Both are unique items.

Adria the Witch

Located in the very east side of town, this old lady is a specialist in the art of magic. She sells and buys scrolls, potions, books and staffs. She is the only one that sells Mana potions, and she is the only one that buys staffs, as Griswold doesn't. The Sorcerer will come here a lot.

She gives you the Black Mushroom quest, which you go back an forth in the Caves levels and eventually get a special type of elixir.

Pepin the Healer

This guy rules! He gives you free healing! He also sells you Health Potions, and later in the game, Elixirs, which raise your stats for 5000 a piece. The bad thing is he doesn't buy things from you.

If when you start a new game the fountain has yellow water, then talk to him and you will get the Poisoned Water Supply quest. In the Dungeon (level 1 I think) there will be stairs leaving to a Caves level, where you have to destroy all the monsters. I forgot what you get in the end, but I don't think it's that good.

Ogden the Tavern Owner

This guy owns the Tavern opposite Griswold. He doesn't buy or sell anything, but he explains stuff for you.

He gives you the introduction to Diablo, and Ogdens Tavern Sign quest. In the Catacombs (level 7 I think) there will be an annoying little Devil Kin thing that threatens you. Follow his instructions and eventually you will get the sign back and then another item in return from Ogden.

Gillian the Barmaid

Probably the most useless character in the game, all she does is give you advice. She isn't even slightly good looking. Damn.

Wirt the Peg-Legged Boy

Wirt is a sneaky little thief that steals stuff and sells it to make a profit. He is up near the Caves entrance, near the north of town. He charges $50 to take a look at what he's got, and usually it's expensive, but pretty good. I once got a real good axe from him, and its sell price was about $80,000.

Cain the Elder

This cool guy identifies items that you may find on your quest. He charges $100, and the item may be a shit item (sells for only $1 at Griswold's) but he is still pretty good. He also gives advice from where he stands next to the fountain.
